Tottenham Hotspur have supposedly been handed a boost in their pursuit of Wolfsburg's Maxence Lacroix after RB Leipzig pulled out of the running to sign the defender.
Nuno Espirito Santo could be set for an overhaul in defence ahead of the new season, and the Portuguese is thought to be close to bringing in Takehiro Tomiyasu as his first summer signing.
However, Spurs supposedly want to bolster their defence further after securing a deal for Tomiyasu, and Wolfsburg starlet Lacroix is thought to have been identified as a leading target.
Wolfsburg's Bundesliga rivals RB Leipzig have also been tipped to move for the 21-year-old, but German outlet Bild claims that they have now been priced out of a move.
Leipzig reportedly tabled a bid of £15.45m for the centre-back, but they were not willing to go as high as Wolfsburg's asking price of £17.16m, which has seen Spurs jump to the head of the queue for his services.
Lacroix made 30 Bundesliga appearances in the 2020-21 campaign to help his side qualify for the Champions League, and his Wolfsburg deal does not expire until 2024. body check tags ::
