Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keeping a close eye on developments surrounding the future of Nottingham Forest attacker Brennan Johnson.

The 22-year-old's efforts were pivotal in keeping Forest afloat in the Premier League last season, as he contributed eight goals and three assists from 38 matches.

Despite rife competition for places in Steve Cooper's bloated squad, Johnson started 33 top-flight games for the Tricky Trees, being deployed as a striker, right winger and attacking midfielder.

The Wales international's performances naturally attracted interest from Forest's Premier League rivals, although Cooper's side have the attacker under contract for another three years.

Nevertheless, a handful of clubs are supposedly ready to test Forest's resolve this summer, and according to The Athletic, Tottenham are among the teams monitoring developments closely.

While Ange Postecoglou's side are admirers of Johnson, the report adds that the Lilywhites are yet to approach Forest with an offer, unlike London rivals Brentford.

The Bees - who are without the banned Ivan Toney until January - have reportedly failed with a second bid worth £35m offer Johnson, who is valued at £50m by his current club.

Furthermore, Forest boss Cooper is in no position to let the Welshman depart this summer, although the powers-that-be could be tempted into a sale for a suitable fee in order to help their Financial Fair Play standing.

Barring a loan spell with Lincoln City in the 2020-21 season, Johnson has spent his entire career with Nottingham Forest and has made 105 appearances for the club since joining their academy in 2009.

Johnson has produced 29 goals and 12 assists in 105 matches for the Tricky Trees in that time, while he made three substitute appearances for Wales during their short-lived 2022 World Cup run.

Tottenham have already welcomed Manor Solomon and James Maddison to the club to reinforce their attacking ranks, as well as making Dejan Kulusevski's stay from Juventus permanent.

Lucas Moura bid farewell when his contract ended in June, though, while there does not appear to be a swift resolution to the protracted Harry Kane transfer saga.

The 30-year-old has entered the final 12 months of his Lilywhites deal, and Bayern Munich are pushing hard to bring him to the Allianz Arena, having already seen two offers rebuffed.

Executives from the German champions are now expected to hold further talks with Tottenham on Monday in a bid to thrash out an agreement, although their meeting was originally scheduled for the end of this week before it was pushed back.

Spurs owner Joe Lewis has allegedly told chairman Daniel Levy that Kane must be sold this summer if he refuses to sign a new deal, and the England captain is not believed to have any desire to put pen to paper while the transfer window remains open. body check tags ::
