Tottenham Hotspur boss Andre Villas-Boas has signalled his intention to sign a new striker in the next few days.
Villas-Boas currently only has Jermain Defoe as a recognised striker at White Hart Lane, and was forced to employ the England international in a lone role up front in his side's 2-1 loss to Newcastle United.
The Portuguese manager is waiting for Luka Modric's transfer to Real Madrid to go through in order to raise funds, but is hopeful that everything can be resolved before their next match.
"We have been very, very active looking for different solutions. For one reason or another, it has not happened so far," said Villas-Boas.
"But we are confident we can close it down in the next couple of days. If that is the case he (Levy) will further strengthen the squad with what we are looking for."
Tottenham will be looking to bounce back from their opening day defeat when they take on Liverpool's conquerors West Bromwich Albion next Saturday.
