Watford have turned down an opportunity to allow former Tottenham Hotspur striker Emmanuel Adebayor to train with the club.
The 31-year-old Togo international striker is looking for somewhere to work on his fitness after he was released from his contract at White Hart Lane earlier this month.
However, a source at the Hornets told The Mirror that head coach Quique Flores was not keen on the chance to bring in the experienced forward, instead preferring to focus on the squad that he has already put together.
"The club are very respectful of Adebayor's quality and experience," the source is quoted as saying. "But our recruitment team have been tasked with creating a tight-knit squad and we believe we now have that.
"The manager has always said since the summer that he wants to work with as few players as possible and that remains the case."
Despite being a free agent, Adebayor cannot join another club until January because he was still a Tottenham player when the transfer window closed on September 1.
