England manager Gareth Southgate is reportedly prepared to hand Harry Kane the captain's armband for this summer's World Cup finals.
The Tottenham Hotspur striker has shared the role with Jordan Henderson, Gary Cahill, Joe Hart and clubmate Eric Dier since Southgate took charge in November 2016.
Following plenty of deliberation with his backroom staff, the Daily Star suggests that the former Middlesbrough boss has decided to name Kane as his skipper for Russia 2018.
Cahill and Hart have both dropped down the pecking order at their club sides, while Southgate is said to have reservations about Dier and Henderson.
England's squad for the upcoming friendlies with the Netherlands and Italy, neither of whom will be at the World Cup, is to be announced next Thursday.
