Brazil midfielder Paulinho has revealed that he has "regained confidence" since moving to Barcelona last summer.
The 29-year-old, who spent two unimpressive seasons with Tottenham Hotspur between 2013 and 2015, moved to Chinese side Guangzhou Evergrande for £10m before signing for the Spanish giants in a £35m deal in 2017.
Speaking to the Evening Standard, Paulinho opened up on his return to form, insisting that he "deserved" a chance to recapture his best ability.
"From four years ago, a lot has changed in my life and career," the midfielder said. "Leaving England was good for me. I had lost my self confidence, but I've regained it.
"I've played very well, helped my club to win [La Liga]. I'm here because I worked and I deserved it. In four years, I've learnt a lot."
Paulinho's only goal for Brazil at the World Cup so far came in a 2-0 win over Serbia on Wednesday.
