Teddy Sheringham expects "massive" Oxford United test

Teddy Sheringham believes that Stevenage will have to hit top gear if they are to take anything away from this weekend's "massive" game against high-flyers Oxford United.

Stevenage boss Teddy Sheringham has admitted to being "very impressed" by the job Michael Appleton has done at Oxford United, as the two sides prepare to face off this weekend.

Despite slipping up at home to Barnet last time out, the U's are still holding on to an automatic promotion spot in League Two.

Sheringham is expecting a "massive" test for his side when they welcome Oxford to Broadhall Way, and confesses that they will need to be at their best in order to take anything from the game.

"I've been very impressed by them. I know all about Michael Appleton and what he does with his football teams, and I've been very impressed with him," he is quoted as saying by The Comet.

"We'll try to impose our game on them, [but] we can't be anything that we're not. We have certain positives in our game which we try to emphasise and implement when we're playing, and we'll stick with that.

"This is a massive game for us and a real test. If we're not on full throttle, then we'll come unstuck like pretty much every game in League Two. We have to be at our best to get something out of it."

Stevenage, who have taken five points from the last 24 on offer, are currently three places above the relegation zone.
