Phil Bardsley has ended his six-year association with Sunderland by agreeing a three-year deal with Stoke City.
Reports emerged earlier today that the 28-year-old was undergoing a medical with the Potters ahead of a possible free transfer.
It has now been confirmed on Stoke's official website that Bardsley's contract will become official on July 1 when his Sunderland contract expires.
Bardsley returned to the Black Cats team last season under head coach Gus Poyet after being shunned by former boss Paolo Di Canio due to off-field issues.
The defender made 200 appearances for Sunderland during his time at the Stadium of Light.
