Sheffield Wednesday have reportedly become the first Championship club to declare an interest in signing Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland on loan.
Butland is available for a short-term loan spell after finding chances limited early this season at Stoke City, with Asmir Begovic currently the first-choice at the Britannia Stadium.
Wednesday will lodge an enquiry to take Butland with the loan window open and will provide assurances over first-team football to secure the deal, according to the Daily Mail.
The 20-year-old has admitted in recent interviews that he is desperate not to jeopardise his position in Roy Hodgson's plans for next summer's World Cup by staying on the bench this season.
Butland was in action for England's Under-21 side last night, but was caught out of position early on as the Young Lions were held to a 1-1 draw by Finland in a 2015 European Championship qualifier.
