Stoke City leading race for Hearts defender John Souttar?

Stoke City are reportedly regarded as the frontrunners to sign Hearts defender John Souttar during one of the upcoming transfer windows.

Hearts defender John Souttar has reportedly emerged as a potential transfer target for Stoke City.

The 25-year-old has been at Tynecastle since the start of 2016, making a total of 148 appearances in all competitions.

However, while the Scotland international remains a key player at the top-flight club, he has just over six months remaining on his contract.

According to Lancs Live, Stoke currently lead the race for Souttar, aided by his brother Harry being a key member of the Potters squad.

The report suggests that Souttar may be prepared to reject offers from Rangers and Celtic in order to make the switch to the Championship club.

As it stands, it is unclear whether Stoke would aim to sign the centre-back for a cut-price fee in January or on a free transfer during the summer.
