Stuttgart striker Cacau has signed a one-year contract extension with the Bundesliga club.
The 31-year-old's original contract was due to run out at the end of the season and the new deal means that he will stay with the German club until the summer of 2014.
Cacau is currently sidelined with a knee ligament injury that he suffered in October and is unlikely to play again this campaign.
"Stuttgart has been my home for almost a decade and I have celebrated huge sporting successes and fantastic moments here," he said. "My first goal is to get fit again as quickly as possible to be able to give it my very best next season."
Stuttgart's director of sport Fredi Bobic added: "Cacau will be going into his 11th season with Stuttgart in the summer and that is an incredibly long time in the football world.
"He will be able to help us further with all of his experience, so we're pleased to be able to plan with him also for the coming season."
Cacau joined Stuttgart from Nuremberg in 2003.
