Sunderland reportedly intend to interview Roy Keane ahead of potentially appointing the Irishman as the club's new manager.
The head position in the dugout at the Stadium of Light became available when Lee Johnson was sacked after last weekend's 6-0 defeat at Bolton Wanderers.
While a number of high-profile names have been linked with the position, the Daily Mail claims that Keane is in the running to return to the club.
Keane, now 50 years of age, managed the Black Cats between August 2006 and December 2008, winning the Championship title during his tenure.
The Manchester United legend has not been a manager since January 2011, but he has previously stated that he holds a desire to return to the dugout.
The report claims that Keane could hold discussions with the powers-that-be at the League One outfit before the end of the week. body check tags ::
