Bournemouth are reportedly keen on signing Jermain Defoe if Sunderland are relegated from the Premier League at the end of the season.
The 32-year-old striker was on target yesterday as the Black Cats beat Everton 2-0 to move two points clear of the drop zone.
Defoe joined Sunderland from Toronto FC at the start of 2015, but it is understood that the former England international will leave the Stadium of Light should the team fail to keep hold of their top-flight status.
Newly-promoted Bournemouth are now thought to be interested in bringing the experienced forward to Dean Court, according to The Mirror.
Sunderland continue their battle for Premier League survival on May 16 when they host fellow strugglers Leicester City.
