Dutch forward Jeremain Lens admits that he is relishing the chance to leave Sunderland and link up with former manager Dick Advocaat at Fenerbahce.

Outgoing forward Jeremain Lens has claimed that Sunderland "would just love to get rid of [him]" after taking a step closer to joining former manager Dick Advocaat at Fenerbahce.

The Dutchman confirmed that he will undergo a medical in Istanbul on Tuesday ahead of finalising a move away from the Stadium of Light, where he has spent the past 13 months.

Lens's switch is likely to initially be on a season-long loan, with the option to join the Turkish giants on a permanent deal next summer should all parties be happy, and the 28-year-old admits that he is "looking forward" to moving on.

On his time playing under Sam Allardyce, Lens told Fox Sports: "I did not play, was not even on the bench. I just had a problem with the club. Sunderland would just love to get rid of me.

"Tomorrow I will undergo the medical examination," he added. "I do not expect any problems. I'm looking forward to it. It's a nice transfer. Fenerbahce is a great club and a great challenge.

"I have a good relationship with Dick, but he also knows my qualities. It is not that he is doing me a favour."

Lens, who set Sunderland back around £8m when joining from Dynamo Kiev last year, featured in both of the Black Cats' last two Premier League games.
