Ignacio Scocco has said that he is not planning to return to Argentina during this summer's transfer window.
The Sunderland striker joined the club from Brazil's Internacional during the January window, but is yet to start a Premier League match for Gus Poyet's side.
The 28-year-old told Argentine radio show America & Closs: "I have not considered the possibility of returning to Argentina. A return to Argentina is always in my plans, Newell's are my priority there, but let's see.
"I am under contract with Sunderland, when the season is over I'll talk with the board and the staff and see what I'll do.
"I came willing to play, this is why I want to talk with the board but I am a Sunderland player, I have two more years of contract here."
Sunderland face Manchester United at Old Trafford this weekend.
