Sunderland head coach Gus Poyet has reportedly made West Bromwich Albion forward Brown Ideye one of his major January transfer targets.
The Nigerian arrived at The Hawthorns from Dynamo Kiev for a club-record £10m during the summer, but he has struggled to make an impact.
Poyet was also keen to sign the 26-year-old in the previous window and retains his interest in the striker, despite the fact that he has only scored two goals for the Baggies this season, according to the Daily Star.
It has been suggested that the Black Cats hope to tempt West Brom into doing business with a bid in the region of £6m.
