Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill is lining up a move for Besiktas striker Hugo Almeida.
O'Neill is keen to bring the Portuguese hitman in on loan, with Nicklas Bendtner ruled out through injury.
Almeida is reportedly open to a move away from the Turkish club after they failed to deliver their promises about increased wages. Despite a troubled time at the club, the big target man has still scored seven goals in 15 appearances so far.
The Black Cats' boss sees the 27-year-old as the perfect addition and hopes to tie up a deal in the January transfer window to bring him to the North-East club.
Media reports also suggest that Sunderland will also consider Bolton's out-of-favour captain Kevin Davies. However, Bolton are looking for a permanent deal rather than a short-term loan.
