Sunderland manager Gus Poyet has reportedly made Galatasaray striker Bruma one of his top January targets.
The Black Cats have improved of late but Poyet still supposedly feels that they need to spend in the transfer window in order to secure their Premier League status.
Having missed out on Liverpool's Fabio Borini in the summer, a striker remains a priority for the Uruguayan and 20-year-old Bruma is a player whom he has long had his eye on, according to the Northern Echo.
The Wearsiders reportedly failed in a loan swoop for the Portuguese Under-21 international last January, but Galatasaray would be willing to sanction a sale if they can recoup the £8m that they paid Sporting Lisbon.
Bruma has found playing time hard to come by in Turkey and has not scored in six appearances this season.
Sunderland are 14th in the Premier League table ahead of their trip to Leicester City this weekend.
