Sunderland reportedly have no interest in loaning out their winger Adam Johnson.
A recent report had claimed that Everton were keen to recruit the 26-year-old, although only on an initial season-long loan basis.
However, the Black Cats do not see the logic in sanctioning Johnson's departure to another Premier League club on a temporary deal, according to the Newcastle Chronicle.
The report added, though, that the Black Cats would consider selling the 12-time England international if they received an offer that would allow them to recoup the majority of the £10m that they paid for his services in 2010.
Johnson scored 10 goals during his 45 appearances in all competitions last season.
