A late equaliser for Chelsea secures a point for the Blues in a 1-1 draw with Swansea.

Chelsea scored a last-minute equaliser to secure a point in a 1-1 draw with Swansea on Tuesday evening.

The home side started the match in explosive fashion and might have been ahead after five minutes when Leon Britton found Danny Graham in the area, but the Swans' top scorer could not find the net.

The home side again went close after 16 minutes through Gylfi Sigurdsson, but Blues defender David Luiz produced a fine block with Graham set to pounce in the area.

Chelsea, who struggled in the opening period, saw their best chance of the opening 30 minutes fall to Fernando Torres, but Britton produced a telling block inside the area.

The away side began to dominate proceedings in the latter stages of the half, but it was the Welsh side who took the lead with a fine solo effort from Scott Sinclair after 39 minutes.

The away side continued to look the better team early in the second period and Jose Bosingwa might have levelled the match with an effort inside the area, but Joe Allen produced an important block.

Chelsea introduced Michael Essien in the latter stages and his strike after 69 minutes almost levelled the match, but it drifted just wide.

The away side continued to push for the equaliser late in the half and Daniel Sturridge poked wide when he might have done better.

It got worse for Chelsea after 86 minutes when Ashley Cole was dismissed for a second booking after a rash challenge on Nathan Dyer.

Chelsea did find an unlikely equaliser moments from the end of the match, however, when Neil Taylor fired into his own net after a Bosingwa cross.

Swansea will look to return to winning ways when they face West Brom on Saturday, while Chelsea host Manchester United a day later.
