Swansea City manager Garry Monk has admitted that Jonathan de Guzman is unlikely to return to the club.
The 26-year-old has spent the past two seasons on loan at the Swans from Villarreal, but he has been reluctant to make a decision over his future.
Monk has said that while he would be happy for the Dutchman to return to Wales, he does not have time to wait as he prepares his squad for the new season.
"We talked to him earlier in the summer, he wanted to keep his options open and I suppose they still are," Monk is quoted as saying by The Express. "But I do not anticipate him coming back at this moment in time, we have not got time to wait around.
"With the people we have brought in we are trying to move on as quickly as possible as it is such a short period of time. With the high turnover of players we have had, and trying to get as much information across to them as possible, we have not got time to wait around.
"I am not closing the door on it, if it happens it happens, but he was the one who decided to keep his options open and we cannot afford to wait about."
De Guzman has won 13 caps for the Netherlands and played for his country at this summer's World Cup.
