Chairman Lee Power admits that taking temporary charge of Swindon Town is an "unusual situation", but insists that he is well suited to the role.

Swindon Town chairman Lee Power has explained the reasoning behind appointing himself as temporary manager, claiming that he has the experience required to take charge of the League One side.

The 43-year-old will look to steady the ship at the County Ground while the search for a permanent boss to replace Mark Cooper goes on.

Many have questioned Power's decision to take to the helm, where he will be joined by coach Luke Williams, but the former Norwich City forward is confident that he can succeed in the role.

"I know people will see the chairman taking over and think 'what is going on down there?', but I played for 12 years in every division there is England and up in Scotland," he told BBC Sport.

"If I wasn't the owner, or the chairman, no-one would say anything. It's an unusual situation as I am the only former player who owns a football club."

Cooper had been in charge of Swindon since August 2013, but was shown the exit following the club's slow start to the campaign.
