Wrexham are on course to move into second place in the Conference Premier table after opening up a 1-0 lead at Torquay United at half time.
Torquay, who are unbeaten at Plainmoor this season, could have taken the lead after two minutes when the ball fell kindly for Toby Ajala, but he pulled his effort well wide.
Up the other end, Elliott Durrell's free kick was deflected into the path of Blaine Hudson, but his strike went just past the post.
The visitors struck the woodwork shortly before the 20-minute mark when Manny Smith's header hit the post before being cleared by the Torquay defence.
Moments later, Connor Jennings's attempt just evaded the far post, but the Welsh outfit took the lead on 29 minutes when Louis Moult blocked a clearance by the goalkeeper before converting the ball into the net for his sixth goal of the season.
Despite Wrexham breaking the deadlock, both teams continued to play an offensive game, but a second goal couldn't be found before the break.
