Monday morning's La Liga transfer talk news roundup:

Arsenal 'reach agreement with Real Madrid over Martin Odegaard loan'

Arsenal have reportedly reached an agreement with Real Madrid over a loan deal for Martin Odegaard.

The Gunners recently waved goodbye to Mesut Ozil, who has now completed a move to Fenerbahce after seven-and-a-half years in North London.

However, with the ex-Germany international having been frozen out of the team this term, Arsenal struggled for creativity until the emergence of Emile Smith Rowe over the festive period.

The Gunners have been expected to bring in a new playmaker during the January transfer window, and according to Fabrizio Romano, a deal has now been reached with Madrid over a move for Odegaard.

Romano claims that a conversation with Mikel Arteta convinced the 22-year-old to move to the Emirates on loan until the end of the season, and the deal will be completed after he undergoes his medical.

Odegaard only made nine appearances for Zinedine Zidane's side during the first half of the 2020-21 campaign, including a mere three starts in La Liga.

Leandro Paredes confirms Paris Saint-Germain are trying to sign Lionel Messi

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Leandro Paredes has dropped a hint to suggest that the French champions are trying to sign Barcelona forward Lionel Messi.

Messi, whose contract at the Camp Nou expires at the end of the season, has been heavily linked with a move away from the Catalan club and PSG are one of the front-runners along with Manchester City for his signature.

The arrival of Mauricio Pochettino at the Parc des Princes could make a move to Paris even more enticing for compatriot Messi and Paredes hopes that the club can convince him to join.

"It's up to Leo to come to the club, because PSG are trying to convince him," Paredes told Corriere dello Sport.

"To be able to be coached by a coach from your country and the possibility of playing with Leo is a great opportunity... I hope it happens."

As well as linking up with international teammates Paredes and Angel Di Maria, Messi would be reuniting with former Barcelona teammate Neymar if he were to join the Parisian club.
