USA manager Jurgen Klinsmann has praised his side's qualification from the group stage of the World Cup in Brazil, claiming that the "tremendous" Stars and Stripes have proven "everyone" wrong.
The Americans lost 1-0 to Germany in Recife, but still managed to reach the knockout stages courtesy of Portugal's inferior goal difference.
Klinsmann told reporters after the game: "It's huge for us to reach the last 16. We wanted at least a tie out of the game and maybe at the beginning we had too much respect.
"But overall there was tremendous energy and effort from all of the side. It's huge for us to get out of group - everyone said we had no chance but we took that chance. Now we want to prove a point."
The USA also reached the second round of the competition four years ago in South Africa.
