Nuno Espirito Santo has resigned from his role as Valencia head coach after the 1-0 defeat to Sevilla.
Reports had suggested that Nuno was considering his future with Valencia sitting ninth in La Liga, and the 41-year-old made the decision to leave the club before Sergio Escudero had condemned his side to defeat on Sunday night.
"Before the game I spoke with the president, with the owner, Peter Lim, and we have spoke after the game, too," he told reporters at the start of his post-match press conference.
"We are all in agreement that the situation is not good; we all want to do the best for the club. It's for that reason that I have taken the decision to leave the club.
"It's been an honour to manage the club and I want to thank all the players I have worked with, Peter Lim and the fans."
Valencia have won just five of their 13 La Liga games this season.
