Valencia boss Juan Antonio Pizzi has admitted that his side must overcome Real Sociedad in La Liga on Sunday if they are to finish in a European place this season.
Pizzi's side currently sit eighth in the table, five points behind Sevilla, with 11 games of the campaign remaining.
"There shouldn't be a difference playing in Europe and playing in La Liga. If we always play to our limit and are competitive, then things won't go wrong," he told reporters.
"We have to maintain that to keep getting good results. It's a new challenge on Sunday and we're looking for a good result. There aren't so many points to play for now and if we want to play in Europe we need all the points we can get.
"Real Sociedad have some players who can make the difference and they've got a good points tally. They're in the running for the Champions League."
Valencia have won 10 of their 27 league games this season.
