Manchester United are said to be interested in signing Spanish international left-back Jordi Alba from Valencia.
The Premier League champions are in the market for a long-term replacement for captain Patrice Evra, who turns 31 next month.
Sir Alex Ferguson has asked his scouts to compile a detailed report on the 23-year-old and the club are willing to pay Valencia up to £15m as a transfer fee, according to Goal.com.
Alba has made three appearances for Spain, including one in the 1-0 defeat to England in November.
The Red Devils have also been linked with a cut-price bid for Everton's Leighton Baines.
