Ariel Jacobs is livid with Valenciennes after they squandered the lead to lose at Bordeaux in Ligue 1 on Sunday.
Tongo Hamed Doumbia had given them the lead, but a missed penalty spurred Bordeaux on to fight back with a Jussie spot kick and a goal from Nicolas Maurice-Belay to win 2-1 at the Stade Chaban-Delmas.
"It's an enormous disappointment," Jacobs said in his press conference. "The message put over at half time was to try and get the ball deeper, and it paid off.
"Things happened in the game that tipped the scales in their favour. We can have some regrets. Teams at the top end of the table tend to get the luck. The last three, four weeks, we can have the same regret. We have to give our all to get out of this, it's the only way.
"We just lacked a little something to match them. If we show the same hunger and desire, with the quality we showed in the second half, it's the only way we'll get out of trouble."
Valenciennes stay in the relegation zone in the Ligue 1 table, five points adrift of safety.
