Members of the Venezuela national team call for the FVF's board and its president Laureano Gonzalez to resign.

Numerous members of Venezuela's national team have threatened to quit after a dispute with the country's football association escalated.

Genoa's Tomas Rincon and West Bromwich Albion striker Salomon Rondon are among a group of 15 players who are calling for the FVF's board and its president Laureano Gonzalez to stand down.

The team reacted angrily after Gonzalez accused the squad of staging a dressing-room coup to remove manager Noel Sanvicente.

"We the players are no longer in agreement that this group of leaders of the FVF should continue, as the way we have been treated and they way they have managed the project to reach the World Cup finals has not been acceptable," read a statement that the players issued via social media.

"We strongly believe the team needs a complete managerial change if we are not to lose the work done over the last eight years.

"Our integrity is non-negotiable and the damage done can only be repaired by a total overhaul of the leaders of the FVF. We can't continue playing in an environment so damaged by these leaders."

The current FVF's board has held office since former president Rafael Esquivel was arrested as part of the investigation into the FIFA corruption scandal.

Venezuela have lost all four of their World Cup 2018 qualifying matches.
