Villarreal have claimed a 2-1 win over Malaga at Estadio El Madrigal in La Liga this evening, with all three goals coming inside the final 10 minutes.
Javi Guerra was on the attack early on for the visitors, bursting into the box before taking on the shot himself, but his finish was a fraction wide.
Villarreal had the ball in the back of the net down the other end inside the opening 15 minutes, but Giovani dos Santos was flagged for offside after turning the ball in from a Jaume Costa through-ball.
Chances were at a premium in the second half, but Gerard Moreno finally broke the deadlock with just eight minutes remaining as a long ball forward set him through one-on-one with the keeper, leaving him to slot into the bottom corner.
Moreno added a second just five minutes later when Mario Gaspar picked him out on the edge of the box, setting him up for a powerful half-volley into the back of the net.
There was more late drama, though, as Sergi Darder pulled a goal back for Malaga as the match headed into stoppage time, rising highest in the box to nod in at the far post, leaving the keeper stranded.
However, there was not enough time for Malaga to find a late equaliser, leaving them eighth in the table, while Villarreal remain sixth.
