Villarreal have been held to a 1-1 draw by Malaga in their La Liga clash this evening.
Malaga felt they should have had a penalty in the third minute of the game when Eliseu was brought down inside the box by Jaume Costa, but the referee thought the challenge was fair.
The home side fashioned the first chance of the night when Ikechukwu Uche worked an opening to get a strike on goal, but Wilfredo Caballero was equal to his effort.
Villarreal took control of the game and after the half-hour mark, they broke the deadlock. Cani burst into the area before laying the ball back to Bruno Soriano, who calmly side-footed the ball past the keeper.
The visitors wasted the chance to level going into the break, when Ignacio Camacho delivered a telling ball into the box, but somehow failed to pick out his teammates in the middle.
In the second half, Villarreal missed an opportunity to double their lead when Giovani dos Santos fired over from close range before Malaga had their own chance, as Sergio Asenjo could not tuck in the rebound from Eliseu's saved strike.
In the fourth minute of stoppage time, the home side were stunned as Weligton headed in to earn Malaga a point.
