FAW warns Welsh supporters over potential pitch invasion against Israel

The FA of Wales warns supporters that they could harm their country's qualification for Euro 2016 if they invade the pitch in celebration against Israel.

The Football Association of Wales has warned fans that they could jeopardise Wales's qualification for Euro 2016 with a pitch invasion.

Wales can qualify for their first major tournament in 57 years if they beat Israel at the Cardiff City Stadium on Sunday.

However, the FAW says that there are concerns of repercussions if victory over their Group B rivals leads to a celebratory pitch invasion.

"UEFA do look upon these things quite poorly and we know there can be penalties if such things happen," FAW chief executive Jonathan Ford is quoted by Wales Online as saying.

"There is a range of disciplinary procedures and ultimately they do have the ability to take points away from teams or order games to be played behind closed doors.

"It goes without saying we do not want that to happen and potentially spoil what could be a great night."

The FAW was fined and warned by UEFA when travelling supporters invaded the pitch when Gareth Bale scored a late winner against Andorra last year.
