The Netherlands secure a 2-0 win over Wales in their international friendly in Amsterdam.

The Netherlands have continued their World Cup preparations with a 2-0 win over Wales in an international friendly in Amsterdam this evening.

Wayne Hennessey had to be alert in the Wales goal early on as the Dutch side looked for a quick goal, but the Crystal Palace stopper denied Robin van Persie.

After surviving a dominant spell from the Netherlands, Wales started to see more of the ball and were able to test their hosts from a couple of set pieces, but could not force a save from Jasper Cillessen.

The hosts soon started to control the play again and were able to break the deadlock with just over half an hour gone when Van Persie got the better of Chris Gunter before seeing his shot saved, only for Arjen Robben to fire in from the rebound.

Jermaine Easter and George Williams were both brought on in the second half and had chances to equalise for Chris Coleman's men, but Cillesson stopped the first before the second drifted wide.

The Netherlands were able to extend their lead inside the final 15 minutes as Jeremain Lens tapped in from close range following a quick move by Wesley Sneijder.

Stefan de Vrij tried to put the result beyond doubt inside the last 10 minutes with an optimistic strike from 30 yards out, but it failed to trouble Hennessey.

The Dutch side continued to press for a third in stoppage time, but were unable to find the target again in the final moments.
