Former Queens Park Rangers midfielder Joey Barton is reported to be training with Watford in a bid to earn a deal with the newly-promoted Premier League side.
Barton left QPR in the summer upon the expiration of his contract following their relegation from the top flight, and it is understood that he could be handed a deal at the Hornets if he impresses manager Quique Flores.
The 32-year-old is understood to want to continue playing in the Premier League, but the London Evening Standard reports that he will have to lower his wage demands considerably if he to is secure a deal.
Flores is interested in adding Barton's top-flight experience to his squad, but the club are only believed to be prepared to offer a maximum salary of £40,000 a week, £30,000 less than Barton's reported QPR wage.
Watford have already added 10 new players to their squad since securing automatic promotion from the Championship last season.
