Watford are reportedly closing in on the capture of Le Havre midfielder Pape Gueye as their first signing of the summer.
The 20-year-old is highly regarded in his native France but has struggled to break his way into his side's first team, making just eight Ligue 2 starts last term.
According to the Daily Mail, Watford have a strategy of bringing in highly-rated young talents from across the continent and believe that Gueye fits that brief.
The newspaper claims that the Hornets are on the verge of completing the deal and will immediately send him out on loan to sister club Udinese for the upcoming season.
Watford are also rumoured to be interested in West Bromwich Albion defender Craig Dawson.
