Danny Graham scores the winner as Swansea overcome West Brom 2-1 at the Hawthorns.

Swansea City moved into the top half of the Premier League table after a 2-1 win over West Brom on Saturday afternoon.

The home side might have been ahead barely a minute into the tie when Marc-Antoine Fortune fired an effort from distance, but Michel Vorm made a smart save.

The Welsh side began to play their passing game as the half progressed, however, and an effort from Joe Allen after seven minutes so nearly nestled in the corner of the net.

West Brom began to take control of the game in the latter stages of the half, but James Morrison could only shoot at Vorm before Fortune struck wide after 25 minutes.

The home side nearly took the lead five minutes before the break when Jonas Olsson struck towards goal, but Ashley Williams produced a diving block to prevent a certain goal.

It was the away side who started the second period the stronger and Scott Sinclair twice went close in the early stages, but it was West Brom who opened the scoring after 54 minutes.

The goal came courtesy of the lively Fortune, who struck a powerful effort into the corner from the edge of the area.

Swansea replied immediately, however, when Neil Taylor found Gylfi Sigurdsson and the Iceland international stroked the ball into the corner of the net.

In a stunning five minutes of football, Swansea then found themselves ahead after 59 minutes when Danny Graham scored from close range.

Peter Odemwingie missed a golden chance to level for West Brom after 71 minutes when he found himself unmarked in the area, but the Nigerian fired high and wide when it looked easier to score.

The home side continued to push for the equaliser in the latter stages with Simon Cox and Fortune both going close, but Vorm produced a star performance to secure all the points for his side.

West Brom will look to return to winning ways when they travel to Wolves next Sunday, while Swansea face Norwich a day earlier.
