Gareth McAuley has revealed that he would like to remain a West Bromwich Albion player next season.
The 36-year-old is due to become a free agent in the summer when his contract expires.
However, the centre-back has confirmed that talks are underway regarding a fresh deal.
"The discussions are ongoing and hopefully I'll be playing football at West Brom next season," he told reporters.
"I don't expect to be playing forever, but I intend to give myself the best opportunity to try and do just that. I feel strong. If I didn't, I wouldn't be sitting down talking to the club."
The Northern Ireland international joined the Baggies from Ipswich Town in 2011.
