Markus Rosenberg has had his West Bromwich Albion contract terminated by mutual consent.
The Swedish international striker made only six Premier League starts for the Baggies since joining them in the summer of 2013.
Rosenberg failed to find the net in an Albion shirt despite making 33 appearances in all competitions, and new manager Pepe Mel was willing to let the 31-year-old leave The Hawthorns.
A club statement read: "The club would like to thank Markus for his efforts over the past 18 months and wishes him well in his future career."
Rosenberg is expected to return to Sweden to join Malmo in the coming days.
