West Bromwich Albion are reportedly hoping to bring Andre Schurrle to the club on loan from Borussia Dortmund for the rest of the season.
The German World Cup winner is out of favour at the Westfalenstadion, where his rumoured £140,000-a-week wages are proving a problem.
According to The Times, Albion are prepared to subsidise the 27-year-old's salary in an attempt to persuade Dortmund to offload until the summer.
West Brom are said to have already made an enquiry about Schurrle's availability, but they are unable to advance any further with talks until they shift some players.
Jonny Evans is the most likely departure from The Hawthorns this month, with Arsenal and Manchester City touted as possible destinations for the centre-back.
The report also claims that BVB will contribute £70,000 towards Schurrle's wages, though he will still be at the top end of the Baggies' payscale.
