West Ham United midfielder Diego Poyet has admitted that he is 'massively disappointed' by the team's exit from the Europa League.
The Hammers were beaten 2-1 by Astra Giurgiu in Romania last night, dumping them out of the competition 4-3 on aggregate at the playoff stage.
Poyet has revealed that he and his teammates are aware that not reaching the group phase is "not good enough" for a club like West Ham.
"It's a massive disappointment," he told the club's official website. "Obviously we're out and it's difficult. We were 1-0 up and I thought we were comfortable, but then they scored that long-range shot and it all changed.
"In the second half we just couldn't get that equaliser and it's a shame to go out in this manner after we went 2-0 up in the first leg.
"Goals change games and we started off really well and gave it a go but at the end of the day we feel that it's not good enough to be knocked out this early."
West Ham kick off their new Premier League campaign on Sunday when they face Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
