West Ham United's most valuable players

Sports Mole takes a look at the most valuable players in the West Ham United squad.

West Ham United are arguably the Premier League side that have underperformed the most during the 2019-20 campaign.

The Hammers had been tipped to challenge for a European finish this season but are instead sitting 16th in the table, only outside of the relegation zone on goal difference.

There is no question that the capital side have a lot of individual talent, but experienced managers Manuel Pellegrini and David Moyes have struggled to get the best out of the team during the current season.

Here, Sports Mole takes a look at the club's most valuable players.

Declan Rice's presence at the top of the list with a valuation of £44.55m is not a surprise; the 21-year-old has been in impressive form for the Hammers this season and would likely command the biggest transfer fee of any player in the squad should all be placed on the open market. Chelsea are allegedly interested in re-signing the England international, who has worn the captain's armband for the club this season.

Sebastien Haller is next in the list with a valuation of £32.4m, but it has been a tough first season for the 25-year-old in English football. That said, the striker has scored seven Premier League goals this term, which is hardly a disastrous return for a club struggling at the wrong end of the table.

Felipe Anderson and Issa Diop have both struggled for consistency this season, but it would not be a surprise if there was a lot of interest in either player this summer. As a result, it is not too shocking to see the pair at the top end of the list, while the same could also be said for talented Argentine Manuel Lanzini.

Jarrod Bowen has shown since arriving in January that he could be an important player for Moyes's side moving forward and has a valuation of £14.4m, the same as Pablo Fornals, who will also surely believe that he can improve next season after a tough first year in English football.

Carlos Sanchez and Pablo Zabaleta are the two lowest-valued outfield players on the list, which is not a surprise considering that both are in their mid-30s and out of contract at the end of June.

David Martin is bottom of the selection with a valuation of £225,000; the 34-year-old's current deal at the London Stadium actually expires at the end of next season rather than this summer, but it is difficult to argue with his placing.

Lukasz Fabianski is surprisingly way down the list with a valuation of just £2.88m, though. After Rice, there is an argument that the 34-year-old is the team's most important player and therefore the goalkeeper's position is questionable, even taking into account his age.

Midfield trio Mark Noble, Jack Wilshere and Robert Snodgrass have all been handed market values of £4.32m, lower than the next crop including defenders Aaron Cresswell and Arthur Masuaku. Michail Antonio is higher with £8.55m, though, and the 30-year-old has contributed two goals and two assists in the Premier League this season despite missing a lot of football through injury.
