West Ham United manager David Moyes has admitted that his side "didn't play well enough" in Tuesday's EFL Cup quarter-final loss to Arsenal.
The Hammers had held the Gunners to a goalless home draw in the Premier League just six days ago but fell to a 1-0 defeat at the Emirates Stadium.
Danny Welbeck's scrappy goal in the 42nd minute proved the difference between the two teams and nudged Arsenal into the semi-finals of the competition.
"Our performance was honest," Moyes told BBC Sport after the game. "What we lacked was quality.
"We played Arsenal over two games and we conceded one goal and it wasn't an Arsenal-type goal.
"The goal could have been better, but the players worked hard in both games. We didn't play well enough but we were never out of the game."
West Ham return to Premier League action on Saturday when they meet Newcastle United at the London Stadium.
