Sam Allardyce describes the depth of his squad at West Ham as a "real asset" following their draw with Aston Villa.

West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce has described the depth of his squad as a "real asset" following Saturday's draw with Aston Villa.

The Hammers extended their unbeaten run to four matches in the Premier League with the stalemate at Upton Park.

Allardyce welcomed top scorer Diafra Sakho back from injury for the match, while Andy Carroll came off the bench late on for his first appearance of the season.

West Ham's manager believes that the options he has at his disposal, particularly in attacking areas, should stand the team in good stead for the remainder of the campaign.

"Our strength in depth is a real asset," he told the club's official website. "Now we have four strikers available it's given us the opportunity to change the system when we lulled a bit in the second half.

"That ability to change the personnel allowed us to give the fans an exciting finish to the game and I think that will stand us in good stead for the rest of the season. The only thing was while our finishing was good, their keeper was even better."

West Ham return to action after the international break when they travel to Everton in the league on November 22.
