Sam Allardyce: 'Fans have a right to boo'

Sam Allardyce says that he was not happy with West Ham United's performance in this evening's 3-0 defeat at home to Chelsea.

West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce has defended the fans' right to boo following tonight's 3-0 defeat at home to Chelsea.

Jose Mourinho's side cruised to victory after Frank Lampard gave them the lead from the penalty spot in the 21st minute, before rounding off victory after Oscar had doubled the lead before half time.

"I don't see why they shouldn't boo when they're not satisfied with what they're seeing," PA quotes Allardyce as saying. "I wasn't satisfied with what I saw."

The 59-year-old coach said that his side never recovered after Jussi Jaaskelainen brought down Oscar inside the area, although he feels that the Hammers were guilty of squandering goalscoring opportunities.

"We got kicked in the teeth by giving the penalty away and then the reaction for us was that we were having to contain Chelsea too much, which I thought was going to lead to another goal," he added.

"At the moment it doesn't matter what we play with in system terms, we're creating chances and we're not scoring.

"We didn't create too many chances, but we did create a chance to get us back in the game and you should take it."

The result leaves West Ham in 17th and without a win in five Premier League games.
