Slaven Bilic "very happy" with West Ham United performance

West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic insists that his side could have taken all three points from their clash with Manchester United, but is happy enough with the draw.

Slaven Bilic has admitted to being delighted by West Ham United's 1-1 draw against Manchester United, but questioned whether it could have been more had his side taken their late chance.

The Hammers were pegged back through Zlatan Ibrahimovic's header, having earlier scored the second-fastest opposition goal at Old Trafford in Premier League history.

West Ham looked the brighter for the early stages of the second half, but they had to ride their luck for large parts as the Red Devils fired a number of shots on target for an inspired Darren Randolph to keep out.

Former Man United starlet Ashley Fletcher came off the bench and weaved his way through late on, however, only to be denied by David de Gea when creating a shooting chance.

Speaking to BBC Sport after the match, Bilic said: "It might have been more but it is a great point for us, especially as we played good. I have to praise the players, who showed character, commitment and quality, especially in the second half.

"In the first half, when we scored we were a little bit afraid we were winning at Old Trafford and then until they scored we lost too many balls.

"In the second half, we told the players to go up on them and I was very pleased how we played. You can't attack here all the time, they tried to press when they lost the ball and if you get out of that there is a lot of space. We were using that really good in the second half."

The point is enough to take West Ham one clear of the relegation zone, ahead of their return to Old Trafford in three days' time for an EFL Cup quarter-final tie.
