Carlton Cole has expressed his desire to help West Ham United recover from the blow of losing Andy Carroll to another serious injury.
Carroll is expected to miss four months due to an ankle problem, while recent signing Enner Valencia is battling to be fit for the start of the new season, but Cole believes that he can once again be a valuable option for Sam Allardyce.
"When Andy was out last year, I felt I did a good job in that period of time, so I know I can do that," the 30-year-old told reporters.
"It's not a problem for me, it's just about getting fit. I have a great opportunity to get fit and get the games under my belt so I can start the season well."
Peter Crouch is believed to be a target for the Hammers, but reports have suggested that Stoke City want £3m for the England international.
