David Moyes: 'Miami trip key for West Ham United'

Manager David Moyes says that a break in Miami earlier this year played a "key" part in helping West Ham United remain in the Premier League.

Manager David Moyes has maintained that his West Ham United squad have benefited from a trip to Miami earlier in the season.

The break received a mixed reception with West Ham having previously suffered a 3-0 defeat to Burnley, but last weekend the Hammers secured Premier League survival with two games to spare.

West Ham have registered eight points from six games since returning from the United States, and Moyes has backed the decision to go ahead with a change of climate.

At a press conference, the 55-year-old told reporters: "Far from it. Two good games, we know the pressure of any relegation is not there anymore but we will try an play the best we can.

"Our performances and play since we came back from our trip is really good, maybe take out the Man City game. We have picked up points in the last six or seven weeks, showed real togetherness as a group and a few of those nights away certainly worked. I think it was a massive key."

West Ham face home fixtures with Manchester United and Everton to close the campaign.
