West Ham United captain Mark Noble admits that "a lot need to change" on and off the field if his side are to avoid similar problems to those they have suffered this term.

West Ham United captain Mark Noble has admitted that there needs to be "a lot of change" if his side are to avoid running into similar problems as they have done this season.

The Hammers' campaign has been marred by fan protests, relegation fears and the sacking of Slaven Bilic, with the nadir coming when a series of pitch invasions during a March defeat to Burnley resulted in Noble clashing with supporters.

Now under the stewardship of David Moyes, West Ham have secured Premier League survival with two games remaining, but Noble is under no illusions that there is still plenty of work to do on and off the field.

"There needs to be a lot of change. I would not say no to that, on and off the pitch. A lot of stuff needs to change. I am really hoping, and I am convinced it will during the summer. If fans are coming to games and are not happy and we go 1-0 down then we feel that. There is no point lying," he told reporters.

"We need to win games and we have not won enough this season. That is why we are where we are. It's been really tough, I certainly don't want another one like this. There always is stick flying around. I would rather take it on the chin, because I can. Some of the other players can't.

"But it happens, no matter what club you're at. Look at Leicester – they are safe in mid-table, but they were booed off. That's football in this day and age. That's where it is. It's not nice to see, because you can't always win the league and you can't always be in the top half of the table.

"There is so much money in the game now and there are so many good teams, but I was really proud of our players. If we get some points from the next two games we could finish between mid-table and 10th."

West Ham will host Manchester United and Everton in their final two games of the season.
