West Ham United defender Winston Reid has revealed that he cannot wait to play alongside new loan signing Alex Song.

The Cameroon international midfielder joined the Hammers on a season-long deal from Barcelona last week.

Reid is confident that Song will have an instant impact on the team following their difficult start to the season.

"Alex Song is a good player and will help improve the squad so I'm looking forward to working with him," he told the club's official website.

"The club has done a massive job to get him here. He's going to be a big player for us, he's proven himself at Arsenal and Barcelona and it's good that he's here."

West Ham are currently in 11th place in the Premier League table after two defeats from their opening three games.
